What should I do when a person in my household tests positive for COVID-19?

  1. Notify the school
  2. Follow the guidance below for returning to school
  3. Follow the advice of your health care provider

For individuals who test positive and develop symptoms:

  1. Isolate until at least ten (10) days have passed since the onset of symptoms
    AND
  2. Symptoms have improved
    AND
  3. The isolated individual has been fever-free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medication.

Individuals who test positive for COVID-19 and do NOT have symptoms may return to school:

  1. After at least ten (10) days have passed since the date of the 1st positive test (return on Day 11)
    AND
  2. Have no symptoms
    AND
  3. Continue to limit contact for 3 days and when possible wear a face covering.

What about other family members and close contacts?

  1. Follow the advice of your primary health care provider regarding quarantine.
  2. School-age close contacts who quarantine at home and are symptom-free can return to school on day 11. Students will complete homework or classwork as assigned. Days absent due to quarantine will be “excused.”
  3. School-aged children identified as close contacts of a household member may attend school and are required to self-monitor for fever or other symptoms for 14 days. Students will check-in with the School Nurse twice daily during the school day.
  4. Public health recommends that close contacts wear a mask at school for 14 days.
  5. School-age close contacts that develop symptoms or test positive will need to isolate at home.

Please do not hesitate to contact the school if you have questions. Your cooperation and help in limiting the transmission of COVID-19 at school is much appreciated!
