Notice of the Saturday, March 4, 2023, Board of Education Annual Retreat was posted at Harrisburg U.S. Post Office, Banner Capital Bank, Banner County Courthouse, Banner County School, the school website, and in the Western Nebraska Observer.

Call to Order

President Ron Johnson called the Special Meeting - Retreat of the Banner County School BOE to order at 8:04 AM and stated that the Nebraska Open Meetings Act was posted on the wall.

 

Roll Call/Welcome

Present: Megan Allen, Laura Baker, Bret Jeffries, Ronald Johnson, Jake Knaub, and Douglas Olsen. Also present: Evelyn Browne, Superintendent/BOE Secretary and Principal Charles Jones.

 

Pledge of Allegiance

President Johnson invited members and guests to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance.

Approval of Agenda

Approve agenda for the March 4th, 2023 Banner County Annual Board of Education Retreat. Passed with a motion by Bret Jeffries and a second by Laura Baker.

Annual Report to Patrons

Mr. Jones and Dr. Browne presented the "2022-2023 Annual Report” for discussion.

 

Board of Education Self-Evaluation

Members reviewed the Board Self-Evaluation document followed by a discussion.

 

School Calendar 2023-2024 & Program Review

Mr. Jones presented the proposed 2023-2024 School Calendar. Dr. Browne presented information and attendance data on OEF. A discussion followed on the decision to go to a 4-day week in 2019.

 

Personnel

Dr. Browne reviewed staffing needs for the upcoming school year.

 

JAG Nebraska programming for the 2023-2024 school year

Dr. Browne shared information on the JAG program. There will be a JAG presentation to staff on March 17 at 2:30PM. All board members are welcome to attend.

ESCO Update and Discussion

Updates from AMERESCO following a Zoom call and site visit were discussed. Dates for possible meetings with AMERESCO and setting a Public Hearing on the Energy Savings Project were determined.

 

Update District/Board-Superintendent Goals

Current goals were reviewed and discussed. Revisions will be presented at the next regular Board meeting for approval.

 

Transportation Report

Dr. Browne provided vehicle mileage, condition, and bus route information.

 

Meeting Adjourned

Adjourn the meeting at 12:27PM. Passed with a motion by Jake Knaub and a second by Laura Baker.
