Provision for Employees Who Are Breast Feeding

404.50

As required by Federal law, the district shall support staff members who decide to breastfeed their infants.

Breastfeeding employees will be provided unpaid rest periods to express milk, providing the rest period does not cause undue hardship on the operation of the school district. Upon request, the district shall provide the employee up to 30-minutes of unpaid release time to express milk during each four-hour work period. The employee shall, if feasible, take these rest periods at the same time as the rest/meal periods otherwise provided to the employee. A private location has been identified in the school.

Expressed milk can be stored in general company refrigerators, or employee’s personal cooler. Any breast milk stored in the refrigerator must be labeled with the name of the employee and the date of expression. Labeled breast milk can be stored in this refrigerator for up to 6 days.
