Notice of the Monday, September 9, 2024, Board of Education Regular Meeting was posted at
Harrisburg U.S. Post Office, Banner Capital Bank, Banner County Courthouse, Banner County
School, in the Western Nebraska Observer, and on the school website.
Call to Order
The Regular Meeting of the Banner County School District Board of Education was called to
order at 7:00 PM, in the school cafeteria.
The Nebraska Open Meetings Act was displayed in the cafeteria.
Pledge of Allegiance
President Ron Johnson invited members and guests to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance.

COMMUNITY
-BCPS Foundation held their first fundraiser of the year - VIP parking spots awarded to Joe Foland
(Football) and Jack/Jeri Revelle (Volleyball).
-County Commissioners will hold a Town Hall meeting at the school on September 17 th at 6:00pm
Facilities & Transportation
- August Facilities Report (attached)
-ALICAP Premium $143,739 ($137,120 after dividend credit), an increase due Nebraska’s wind and
hail exposure. Our risk modifier is .8 (>1 is excellent).
-Work on North Teacherage started on Friday, Sept 6.
-Tri-State and High West will be on-site October 9 th at 10:30am to do a press release about our
energy project and present a check.
Student Programs & Enrollment
-Current 2024-2025 Enrollment - 129 PK = 8; K-5= 58; 6-8= 24; 9-12=95; LL- 1; VALTS-1; PB-1
-Option IN - 38 Option Out - 20
-End of the day dismissal routine has improved student safety and confusion. Parents are thanked
for their cooperation!
Personnel
-Kelly Rundell tendered her resignation as Food Service Manager effective September 30. Ads have
been placed on web-site, FB, WNO, and posters for her replacement. She is thanked for her work
and dedication to the students of our school.
-Jim Milner completed his CDL with school bus endorsements. Jim will cover the town route until
mid-November and also drive activity routes.
-I attended Software Unlimited training with Sonja Lind in Kearny, August 27-29. The rollover to
the new accounting system has been taking place all week.

My Professional Development
-I attended the IEP Academy for Administrators on Friday, September 6 th at ESU 13.
-I participated in the High Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM) kickoff meeting via Zoom through
ESU 13. We will be updating our K-8 math curriculum for next year.
-I am enrolled in the EDAD 898 course at UNK. This is one of three courses I will be taking to add
an elementary endorsement to my secondary principal endorsement.

NASB State Education Conference Nov. 20-22 registration is open. No one plans to attend this
year.

Approve the District's Tax Request for the 2024-2025 school fiscal year: the General Fund is set at
$2,571,540, Tax levy .729 and the Tax Request for the Special Building Fund is set at $246,044, Tax
levy .069. The total tax levy will be $.799 per $100 of assessed value. Passed with a motion by
